Letterpress copybook, 1891-1893.

This letterpress copybook of T. Coleman du Pont's outbound letters dates from his years with the Central Coal & Iron Company in Kentucky. The volume contains 997 pages, many of which have faded to illegibility. They deal primarily with transactions such as the purchase of mules or provisions for the company store and dealings with the local Du Pont gunpowder agency in Central City, Ky. A number of the letters concern du Pont's activities as assignee for the property of W. H. Dovey.

In 1902 the control of the hundred year old Du Pont Company passed into the hands of three younger du Pont cousins, T. Coleman, Pierre S., and Alfred I.T.
